MARGAO: Senior Congress leader and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat joined party workers from Margao as they went into celebration mode after news trickled in that the Congress is returning to power in the states of Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
A beaming Digambar told the media that the results showed that the Congress will certainly enjoy ache din in the coming days in the country, including Goa.
As news of the party victories in the three states trickled in, Digambar Kamat along with party workers, besides South Goa party chief Joe Dias, Mahila Congress Chief Pratima Coutinho and others, assembled in front of the Margao Municipal Council to celebrate the occasion.
As party flags flew in front of the civic body and workers shouted slogans in support of the party, Digambar said the people of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh have given a mandate for the Congress ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
“The Congress workers are celebrating the party victory for the simple reason that this is the first time after a long time that the party has received good news on the election front. Ache Din will come for the Congress in the future,” he said.
Digambar pointed out that people of the country had come together to protect the country at all costs to ensure that democracy prevails.
Replying to a question, he said the Congress workers are gearing for any situation in Goa, and are even prepared to face a mid-term election if it is thrust on the people of Goa.
