The NSUI–Goa Forward alliance recorded a major win in the elections to the Executive Committee of the Goa University Students’ Council (GUSC), ending a 15-year wait for a clear victory on campus.
Of the nine council posts, the alliance won eight. National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) secured seven seats, Goa Forward Party won one, while Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won just one Executive Member post.
Students elected Sai Desai (NSUI) as Chairman, Soham Raut (Goa Forward) as Secretary, and Shruti Pawar (NSUI) as Lady Member. NSUI also won five of the six Executive Member positions.
Reacting to the results, an NSUI national leader said the verdict reflected strong student support for a student-first approach. Congress leaders said the outcome showed renewed confidence among young voters in progressive student politics. The newly elected members said their focus would be on inclusivity, academic issues, infrastructure, and student rights.
AICC Goa Desk in-charge Manikrao Thakre said the Congress–GFP alliance had achieved a clean sweep of the GUSC after 15 years, adding that students had given a clear and decisive mandate.
