The PWD contract workers and IT engineers along with Goa Forward leaders on Friday gheraoed the Principal Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department and demanded an explanation into the recruitment process.
Goa Forward has already demanded a probe into the alleged scam in job recruitments in the PWD and has also approached the court in the matter.
A delegation led by GFP General Secretary Durgadas Kamat and other workers met the PCE Uttam Parsekar and questioned him about the recruitment issue.
One contract worker complained that the chances of contract workers getting a permanent job had been reduced to zero with the present recruitment scenario.
“We have been working with the department for the last 15 years. What are we to do if the recruitment is done unfairly,” asked the contract worker.
