The joint Opposition on Tuesday accused the government of running away from answering questions on the Mhadei imbroglio and the controversial issue of allocation of Goa's Dongri Tal II coal block in Madhya Pradesh and alleged a scam.
Goa Forward Party's Vijai Sardesai alleged that the government is shying away from discussing the coal block subject as it is seeking to enlist in an opaque fashion a consultancy firm which is blacklisted who in turn will zero in on the mine-developer-cum-operator (MDO) directly as per their convenience.
Flanking Sardesai were Opposition leader, Digambar Kamat, former chief minister Pratapsing Rane, Rohan Khaunte, MGP's Sudin Dhavlikar, Vinoda Paliencar and Jayesh Salgaonkar.
Kamat said the rules do not permit postponing a question after the minister has answered and the written replies circulated among members.
Khaunte alleged a huge scam is in the making in the process of the coal block allocation and the government wants to hide it.
He insisted to know the reason why the minister was seeking postponement of the question at the eleventh hour, when he had already given written answers.
