Margao police on Tuesday warned bar owners along Margao station road to adhere to excise timings as part of the exercise to crack down on anti-social activities in the area.

A day after traders of station road area led by MMC councilor Rupesh Mahatme called on the Margao police with a plea to keep anti-social activities at bay, PI Tushar Lotlikar called the owners of all the bars operating along the station road and told them in no uncertain terms to abide by the excise timing and that action will be initiated against any outlets that do not comply with the excise rules.

The PI further appealed to bar owners to cooperate with the police in keeping anti-social activities at bay.

The Margao station road has witnessed a rise in anti-social activities, right from the foot bridge to the Apollo hospital road.

The traders approached the cops after a clip showed a group of women and two men involved in a scuffle in an inebriated state.

Sources informed that the open space under the footbridge has been reportedly used for prostitution, with customers even being robbed by sex workers and their pimps under cover of darkness.
