Cortalim Comunidade gets new panel

In a keenly contested election to the Cortalim Comunidade which witnessed heated arguments, Cortalim ZP Anthony Vaz's panel regained control over the managing committee of the comunidade in a close finish.
In all, 113 members participated in the election with Vaz's panel polling 59 votes as against the rival panel of Adv Tome Carvalho which polled 54 votes.
Outgoing president Lume Misquita and attorney John Philip Pereira were re-elected, while Fr Eufemiano Miranda was the new face elected as treasurer. From the rival panel, Shekar Dhume, Dhuma and Edmund Carvalho who contested for the attorney's post were defeated.
Except for some heated arguments between Carvalho and Vaz and John Philip, the elections went off peacefully.
The Talathi attached to the Mormugao Mamlatdar, Surendar Kerkar, was the election observer. Shivdas Gaude was the Escrivao who was present for the polls.
