The Children’s Court granted a plea for a re-examination of Suchana Seth’s mental health by the Mental Health Authority. Seth, accused of killing her four-year-old son during their vacation in Goa on January 8, is currently in judicial custody.
The accused’s father had filed an application in February, challenging the report from the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) in Bambolim that confirmed she is mentally fit/ stable.
Her lawyer had cited that the Authority, headed by a retired judge besides mental health professionals, psychologists, social workers, etc as its members, should carry out her reassessment, as the IPHB failed to consider her history.
On Monday, the Court pronounced that the application is allowed even as the date for reassessment is yet to be known.
