Gaondongrim resident critical after assault over domestic dispute
CANACONA
A 23-year-old youth from Gaondongrim was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked by three of his cousins with an iron rod (paroi) and a koita on Sunday afternoon.
The victim, Madhu Zore (23), was assaulted at Fulamol, Gaondongrim, following a domestic dispute. Due to the brutal attack, he suffered a deep cut on his hand and head injuries, with heavy bleeding.
Madhu was first rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Chaudi in Canacona. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to the South Goa District Hospital in Margao and later referred to Goa Medical College and Hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
Speaking to the media outside the Canacona police station, the victim’s brothers said the incident began when a local farmer came looking for his missing buffalo. Madhu escorted the farmer to the house of his cousin Bombo Zore.
At that point, Deepak Zore allegedly threatened Madhu, snatched his mobile phone, and refused to return it.
When Madhu and his brothers questioned this, an argument broke out. During the altercation, Bombo, Janu and Deepak allegedly attacked Madhu with an iron rod and a koita, causing serious injuries.
The police and emergency services were immediately alerted, and Madhu was taken to hospital.
According to reliable sources, Canacona police swiftly detained all three accused and later registered an FIR in connection with the attack. Further investigation is underway.
