The locals from Coperwada-Curti have taken strong objection against the illegal parking of heavy vehicles, engaged in transport business, on national highway at Curti.

On Sunday morning around twenty locals gathered on the spot and asked about this illegal parking to logistic offices (in transportation business) from the area.

However, these offices told that those heavy vehicles don’t belong to them.

“This illegal parking on highway has become nuisance. There is hardly any space on road to pass from here. But authorities are not taking action against them. Hence we have today decided to ask about this to these logistic offices about it and requested them to illegal parking.” one of the local told The Goan.

According to these locals, open defecation is taking place here as there are no facilities of toilets to these drivers of heavy vehicles stationing here.

“It is weird scene we witness this everyday here of open defecation. This should be stopped. There are no facilities to these drivers,” another local stated.

It may be recalled that many times these logistic offices had demanded a transport hub, so they get all the

facilities here.

However, this has not come in the reality yet.

Ponda taluka has industrial estates in Bethora, Marcaim, Kundaim and now establishing in Shiroda. Hence, many logistic offices are established on the outskirt of

Ponda. These locals from Coperwada has also said that chemical waste has been dumped in the area and its burning since last many days.
