PANAJI
Goa Children's Court on Tuesday extended by seven days the police custody of the three accused of procurement and rape of a minor girl from Karnataka with the intention of using her as a ‘surrogate mother'.
Panaji Women's Police had on Saturday arrested four persons in Vasco in connection with the offence. These included a Bihari couple Shoaib and Salath Afridi, one Tasleema and Satyavan Naik. Naik has since secured bail while the other three have applied for bail.
Women's Police have submitted their say to the bail application of the Afridi couple and the Children's Court is scheduled to hear the arguments in the matter on Wednesday.
In his complaint, the minor girl's father has stated that the girl had run away with Satyavan Naik in July 2016 and that she returned home a year later in July this year. She alleged that Satyavan and another ‘friend' sexually exploited her.
Following this, the absconding accused and Tasleema introduced her to Shoaib. The duo allegedly produced a fake birth certificate from Karnataka in a order to prove that the girl is major in age and then made her sign a surrogacy agreement with the Afridis for a sum of Rs 5 lakh.
The minor girl resided at the marital home of the Afridi couple for five months from March to July this year and she has alleged that Shoaib attempted to rape her with the silent consent of
his wife.
