Reiterating the stand taken by the other members of the family, Prakash Naik’s elder son, Pritesh, said his father had not committed suicide.
“My father used to always tell us to stay strong, then how could he have committed suicide?” he questioned, while suspecting political interference in the case.
“Police should not succumb to political pressure. If a politically strong person like my father is not getting help from the police, then how will they help a common man? Are the police speaking on facts or they have become mouthpiece of the politicians?” he asked.
“We will not accept the body as arrests have to be made and proper investigation done. The case cannot be closed just like that,” he added.
“My father used to always help the people as he was concerned for them. He was daring and used to take stand on what was going wrong in the village. If a few people talk bad about him doesn’t make him bad. There are hundreds of people who are talking good about him,” he stated.
“I need to stand by my family and I will stand for what is right, as my father always told me. It is now up to the people of Merces to also take a stand,” Naik said.
