Damaged water pipe causes water scarcity in Pissurlem

Work to repair the damaged water pipeline is in progress at Pissurlem.

Water pipelines have been getting damaged in Sattari due to ongoing work of laying underground power cables, and in yet another incident, the main pipeline supplying water to Pissurlem was ruptured a few days ago, leading to drinking water shortage.

This water shortage has sparked off anger among residents, who have warned that they will be forced to protest at the water supply office if the issue is not resolved immediately.

According to sources, work to repair the damaged pipeline has been underway for the past two days, but it has not yet been completed. As a result, water supply in Pissurlem has not been restored to normalcy.

When contacted, Pissurlem Sarpanch Devanand Parab expressed dissatisfaction with the water supply department.

“We have been trying to contact officials continuously for the last 4-5 days, but we are receiving only assurances and the situation on the ground has not improved,” complained Parab.

Parab warned that if regular water supply is not restored within the next two days, villagers will have no option but to launch an agitation.

Across Sattari taluka, trenches are being dug along roadsides to lay underground power cables in various panchayat areas. During this process, pipelines are being damaged at several locations, and such incidents have reportedly been recurring over the past six months. Although tanker supply has been started, residents say it is insufficient.
