In a letter to the DDMA, the Society has stated that MPT has asked the CISR-NIO to carry out bathymetric and side scan sonar survey of the outer navigational channel, turning circles and approach to Berths 5A, 6A and 7 and the work is to be carried out for 15 days with effect from May 13.
Highlighting the problems raised during the public hearing about the dangerous effects of dredging on marine environment and other environmental disaster, the society has requested the South Goa Collector, head of the disaster management South Goa, to invoke powers under the Disaster Management Act in public interest and ask the CSIR-NIO its submit reports to the DDMA.
