Fish was found dead in a water body at Vanxem in Loutolim on Tuesday, taking the residents by surprise.
The cause of the fish mortality remains unknown, but the incident has only thrown up questions about how the fish was suddenly found dead in the water body.
A resident of Loutolim Avelino Menezes informed that the fish was found dead in the khazan on Tuesday morning.
Though he did not suspect anyone behind the incident, Avelino said the fish might have died because of the discharge of some chemical substance in the water.
“This road goes to the Verna industrial estate. Maybe, some chemical substance might have got discharged which later found its way to the water body,” he suspected.
This is the second time, he pointed out, that fish from the khazan was found dead, with the previous incident reported near the Borim bridge.
Members of the local Khazan tenants association visited and inspected the site after the fish mortality was brought to their notice.
