The deadline set by the PWD to supply, install and commission the screw chiller for the central air conditioning plant at Ravindra Bhavan Margao ends on Thursday.
Work on the project, however, seemed to have not yet started at the Ravindra Bhavan, to date.
The PWD issued the work order to the contractor on July 15 to execute the work of installing the screw chiller for the central air-conditioning plant and commission the same by September 22.
While work on the project could not take off during this period, Ravindra Bhavan Margao had hit the news when the management suspended staging of tiatr and other events in the auditorium for want of the air-conditioning facility.
The suspension was immediately lifted after the move received flak and condemnation from across sections of society, including tiatr producers and directors, besides tiatr lovers.
Following the uproar, the PWD, Executive engineer had a meeting with the contractor, who promised to supply the new chiller by September 24 and complete the installation by September 30.
Ravindra Bhavan Margao informed that though the screw chiller has not yet fallen in place at the main auditorium, an inspection of the air-conditioning plant was carried out by the PWD officials, indicating that work may start in the near future.
