Alleging that two niz-Goenkars are being harassed by GMR company security men to vacate their houses, two organisations Goenchya Kul-Mundkarancho Aawaz and Kul-Mundkar Samiti has warned the government and GMR company that the tenants Narayan Salgoankar and Suresh Talkatkar will not vacate their place until alternate arrangement for their rehabilitation is made by the government.
A petition was also submitted by the two organisations to North Goa Collector and Pernem deputy Collector on Monday.
Addressing the press, Convenor of Goenchya Kul-Mundakarancho Aawaz Ramkrishna Jalmi said GMR company which is constructing Mopa airport demolished the houses of Salgoankar and Talkatkar in November 2017 without making alternate arrangements.
He said that land was in the possession of these tenants as per the I&IV land records. Now, the two families are forced to live in the cowshed made with tarpaulin sheets and coconut leaves.
He said the two families have made a representation to Goa Rehabilitation Board for rehabilitation and the
matter is still under consideration.
Despite this, GMR security are now trying to forcefully evict them and have set a deadline of 48 hours to vacate the place.
Convenor of Kul-Mundkar Samiti Dipesh Naik has also demanded that government scrap the Goa Agriculture Tenancy (Amendment) Act 2014 and Transfer of development rights (TDR) 2018 and immediately complete the task of completing the process of Record of rights based on physical verification to safeguard the interests of tenants.
Dipesh Naik said that October 8 is observed as tillers day as the original Goa Mundkar act of 1975 was passed on the same day.
