The NGT has also directed the deputy collector to serve a notice on Savio Messias and Dharmesh Saglani. The NGT has posted the next hearing for March 27.
In a related development, the GCZMA Member Secretary Srinet Kothwale submitted his reply to the show-cause notice by the NGT on charges of perjury, after he was accused of making a false statement regarding the demolition of some shacks in Salcete and Canacona talukas.
It may be recalled that following NGT directives, the Canacona administration had taken up three different demolitions at Patnem beach, Ourem/Palolem beach
and Khola beach some months ago.
The first two were found to be demolished by the accused parties themselves, while authorities claimed they had carried out demolition of structures belonging to Savio Messias at Khola beach.
Later, a second drive, again on directives of NGT, was stalled when a number of tourism stakeholders, including politicians, blocked the demolition team from leaving the taluka headquarters.
Another inspection was to take place at Khola, but it was allegedly stalled by Messias and Saglani citing that the entire inspection team had not been present at the site.
