The Navelim Civic and Consumer Forum is crying foul over the digging of a trench on side of the road behind the Navelim Church leading to Rawanfond on the eve of the feast of Our Lady of Rosary on Wednesday.
While condemning what the Forum called as the "irresponsible" behavior of the PWD Water supply department, Forum secretary Joseph Vaz has requested the authorities concerned to take immediate action against the irresponsible personnel and the contractor.
"Tomorrow is the feast of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim. Thousands of devotees, young and old will travel and park alongside this road before attending the church service. PWD Water Supply department have dug a trench along the roadside, behind the Navelim Church on the road to Rawanfond. There are no barricades to warn people from falling in the deep trench. While on one side the road is dug, on the other side pipes have been dumped, thus hindering parking of cars," Joseph said, adding "we were promised that the road will be leveled and restored back by today. It is not done. In fact more digging is carried out."
The Forum has requested the police to take safety measures such as barricading the trench and providing alternate parking arrangements.
