Panaji MLA and Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate acknowledged the results of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) elections, urging candidates to remain grounded and respect the electorate. “A candidate should always stay grounded and not fly too high. We are at the mercy of the people — it is they who elect us. If we try to act too smart, people show how smart they are,” Monserrate said.
Expressing his disappointment over the loss of three seats, he added that he had been confident of winning all of them.
He thanked the BJP, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Damu Naik, and all supporters, emphasizing that voters should never be taken for granted. “People are the real king,” he said. Monserrate also stated that the party will decide on the appointment of the Mayor.
