DJ assault case: Court grants anticipatory bail

The South Goa Sessions Court has granted conditional anticipatory bail to the two suspects in the DJ Alvares assault case in Colva.

Additional Session Judge, Sayonara Laad has granted anticipatory bail to Freddy Menezes and Anthony Fernandes upon furnishing a bail of Rs 20,000 each with one identical surety.
The two applicants have been directed to report to the Colva police station for a period of five days for the purpose of investigations and not to tamper with the investigations.
Sources however said medical report which stated that the victim DJ Alvares has sustained only simple hurt has paved the way for the granting of anticipatory bail by the Court.
In this case, the Colva police had registered an assault case against Freddy Menezes and Anthony Fernandes on the basis of a complaint received from DJ Alvares, staying that he was assaulted by the duo outside a restaurant for not playing music after midnight.
