Director of Municipal Administrator (DMA) Dr Tariq Thomas on Saturday visited the Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) to acquaint himself with projects completed and ongoing by the municipal council during the last few months.
During his visit to the council, Dr Thomas also advised the council on the long pending works and the work procedure that could be followed to complete the incomplete projects.
After a visit to the newly constructed municipal administrative building, Dr Thomas urged the council to cover the top floor of the building premise with asbestos sheets so that the hall could be judiciously given for hire purpose.
During his visit, the council brought to the notice of Dr Thomas of the need to appoint a compound keeper to tackle the issue of stray cattle menace in Sanguem which is on an increasing trend.
Dr Thomas informed the SMC of there being no harm in appointing a compound keeper by the SMC. However, the salaries of the compound keeper would have to be incurred by the council, Dr Thomas added.
He also suggested various other measures that could be taken by the Council for the development of Sanguem town area, including the need to expedite the process involved in the garbage disposal site at Gunjimoll
Sanguem.
The meeting was attend by SMC Chairperson Romualdo Fernandes, Vice Chairperson Rosa Maria Fernandes and councillors Fouziya Shaikh, Sanjay Raikar.
