Managing Director and Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Arihant Hospital, Dr Mahadev D Dixit, has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 9th Annual Conference of the Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons of India (SMICTS) held in Bengaluru on September 12–13.
The award was presented in the presence of eminent cardiac surgeons and global leaders, including Dr Sathyaki Nambala, Dr Yugal Mishra, Dr Rajneesh Malhotra, SMICTS President Dr Husam Balkhy, and the President of ISMICS.
The honour recognises Dr Dixit’s decades of pioneering service, research and innovation in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. With over 40 years of experience, he has performed more than 40,000 open-heart surgeries, including 7,500 complex paediatric procedures, and is credited with introducing Minimal Access Valve Surgery and Robotic Heart Surgery in Karnataka and Goa.
Dr Dixit has also been actively involved in philanthropy, facilitating over 20,000 free surgeries for underprivileged patients through hospitals and a charitable foundation. His career has earlier been recognised with the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and the “Best Scientist” Award from KLE University.
