4 accused booked by police after late-night altercation at a bar

A woman and her two children, including her minor son, were allegedly assaulted and threatened by four intoxicated men during a late-night altercation at a bar and restaurant near Jacinto Island in Sancoale on Saturday night.
According to a complaint filed by the woman, whose identity has been withheld, the incident took place at around 11 pm when the accused, identified as Sarvesh Parab from Sada, Mormugao, allegedly entered the cash counter area and began eating food from her personal tiffin box without permission.
When the woman objected, the accused allegedly abused her using filthy language, insulted her modesty and slapped her. The situation reportedly worsened when the woman’s daughter intervened, following which the accused allegedly assaulted the girl on her chest and hit her on the head with a scooter key.
Police said the complainant’s minor son was also allegedly slapped when he came forward to support his mother during the altercation.
The complaint further stated that three other accused — Devendra Mesta from Headland Sada, Saish Naik from Sindolim in Sancoale, and Purshattam Kavlekar from Kavlem in Ponda — joined Sarvesh Parab and allegedly abused the woman and her children using filthy language. The four accused, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, also allegedly threatened to kill the complainant’s son.
Based on the complaint, Verna police registered an offence under Sections 352, 115(2), 79, 74 and 351(2) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prisly Carvalho of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
