QUEPEM
Seeking to justify his entry into the BJP, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar said he was compelled to join the ruling party to develop Quepem and fulfil the needs of his voters.
Kavlekar was speaking at the function organised in the Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) hall to distribute sanction letters to 504 new Griha Aadhar beneficiaries in Quepem constituency.
The beneficiaries consist of 189 beneficiaries from Quepem town, followed by Khola (76), Barcem (56), Avedem (42), Balli (35), Morpilla (34), Betul (28), Ambaulim (26) and Fatorpa (18).
“Although I was the opposition leader, I was deeply pained as I could not fulfil the needs of my voters of providing jobs or giving them benefits of several government schemes and other facilities.”
“That suffocation crossed the limits and I had no other choice but to join the ruling party so that I could develop Quepem like the adjacent Curchorem constituency and fulfil the needs of my voters.”
“A total of 504 sanction letters to new Griha Aadhar beneficiaries in Quepem constituency could be highest in one lot across Goa and this was possible after I joined the BJP,” said Kavlekar.
Kavlekar said for the first time the carnival floats in Quepem would be sponsored by the government.
“The float parade will be held in Margao and Quepem together and all floats, after finishing their parade at Margao, will come to Quepem so that people in Quepem can see all the floats without going to Margao,” the DyCM added.
Others present at the function included QMC Chairperson Dayesh Naik, Ambaulim Sarpanch Jacinta Dias and Quepem Councillor William Fernandes.
