Early morning showers, gusty winds catch Canconkars off guard

CANACONA

Pre-monsoon showers caught motorists and pedestrians off guard in Canacona early Tuesday morning.

Parts of Canacona witnessed rains at about 6.15 am, with the Met department having issued a yellow alert predicting isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds for Monday and Tuesday.

Barring Poinguinim and Loliem areas to some extent, rains were reported in most of the coastal areas of Palolem-Patnem-Rajbag, Agonda and Khola villages, the hilly areas of Khotigao and Gaondogrim villages, as well as in Shristhal.

Some tourists were seen coming out of their places of stay and enjoying the early morning rains and the accompanying cool breeze at Palolem, Agonda and Patnem beaches.

Incidentally, the tourism season has officially already ended in Canacona, but many tourism structures/huts are still in the trade and have visitors, with special arrangements to avoid rainwater entering the beach-huts and rooms.
