Continuing its action against land grab accused, Enforcement Directorate officials on Wednesday conducted raids on the residences of Estevan D’Souza and Alcantro D’Souza at Goa Velha and Mapusa.
The sleuths also seized documents for more than 20 properties. Sources said the two are allegedly close associates of land grab mastermind Mohammed Suhail. Suhail, also identified as a major player in illegal land dealings, was named in the one-man commission on land grab led by retired Justice VK Jadhav.
He is accused of conniving with his accomplices, including Suleman Siddique Khan, to allegedly prepare fraudulent documents for over 93 properties. According to the Special Investigation Team (Land Grab) findings submitted to the Commission, these accused targeted properties that were nearly abandoned by the original owners and sold at least 15 properties to unsuspecting buyers using forged documents.
In 2023, the ED intensified its scrutiny on Vikrant Shetty, Suhail, and Rajkumar Maithi and attached 31 immovable properties worth Rs 39.24 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. Of these, the ED confirmed possession of 19 properties.
