Chairman, Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa, Adv Sangram Desai has underscored the need to ensure that person from the last strata of life get justice.
Launching the Nyaya Yatra-Journey to Justice, an innovative concept started by G R Kare College of Law, Margao, in collaboration with the South Goa District Legal Services Authority and Konkan Railway Corporation, Sangram said the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa is eager to be part of any legal awareness campaign and called upon the law students to get associated with the Bar Council in creating a legally informed society.
The Nyaya Yatra was launched at the Konkan Railway Station, Margao, in the presence of Sarika Faldessai, Judicial Officer and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Adv Pravin Faldessai, Deputy Solicitor General of India, Nitin Kunkolienkar, President of VVM, Adv Pritam Morais, Co-Chairman, Governing Council of Law College, DySP Sidhanth Shirodkar, Dr Maria Goretti Morais, Officiating Principal, Adv Prasad Naik, President of the South Goa Advocates Association and Ganesh Samant, Senior Regional Traffic Manager, Konkan Railway Traffic Manager.
Adv Pravin Faldessai congratulated G R Kare College of Law for its innovative concept to spread legal knowledge and complimented the law students for their efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarika Faldessai, Judicial Officer and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, said that there was a permanent panel of lawyers appointed by the District Legal Services to offer free legal advice to the citizens and such panel operates from the District Court Building at Margao. She said that the needy citizens should avail the services of such panel.
On the occasion, a police team led by Deputy Superintendent Police and SDPO Margao, Sidhanth Shirodkar, created legal awareness on cybercrimes and warned the citizens on the attempts made by cyber criminals to cheat people by devising innovative ways.
