With the Election code of conduct in force, entry to the Margao railway station from the Aquem side has been restricted as part of the vigil maintained by the election authorities.

A visit to the railway station has revealed that barricades have been erected on the footbridge connecting the Aquem side to the front side of the Margao railway station.

A barricade has also been erected along the tracks where the fast food were making brisk business.

When contacted, Konkan Railway Corporation senior official Baban Ghatge  pointed out that the barricading has been carried out by the district election authorities with the election code of conduct coming into force.

“The election authorities have not only installed the barricading but have deployed officials and personnel at the railway station to maintain vigil in the view of the ensuing polls for the Lok Sabha”, Ghatge informed.
