On the very first day of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, a total 62,935 enumeration forms were distributed to voters across the State.
After almost 23 years, the SIR of electoral rolls in Goa kicked off on Tuesday. The coastal State has got around 11.85 lakh eligible voters as on date.
According to the information provided by the Chief Electoral Office (CEO), the door to door distribution of the enumeration forms (EF) for all the existing 11,85,034 electors of Goa has started in each of the 40 Assembly Constituencies. “On the first day today till 4 pm, 62,935 numbers of Enumeration Forms have been distributed to these electors by the BLOs,” CEO said.
A total of 1,725 BLOs have been roped in for the processes, who are being assisted by 843 volunteers, in handling electors, particularly the old, sick, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), poor and other vulnerable groups.
“Special intensive Revision (SIR) has already started successfully in Goa for verifying the eligibility of each elector with full participation of all political parties,” CEO said.
CEO has informed that, as per Article 326, Indian citizens, above 18 years and ordinary residents of the constituency are eligible to become electors.
During the month-long exercise, that will conclude on December 4, the BLOs will visit house to house and distribute partially filled Enumeration Forms in (duplicate) to each existing elector, who will have to complete the forms.
“The BLO will assist electors in verifying and mapping their electoral details with the 2002 SIR records,” CEO said.
The political parties have also appointed 1,321 Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
Dubbed ‘SIR 2.0’, this sweeping exercise will culminate with the publication of final electoral rolls on February 7, 2026, before which on December 9, the draft roll will be published for necessary corrections.
“The objective of an intensive revision is to ensure that the names of all eligible citizens are included in the Electoral Roll (ER) so as to enable them to exercise their franchise, no ineligible voter is included in the electoral rolls and also to introduce complete transparency in the process of addition or deletion of electors in the electoral rolls,” the CEO said.
As per the schedule, the applicants can file their claims and objections from December 9 to January 8, 2026 while the notice phase including issuance, hearing and verification, will be done till January 31.
