Around 100 cases of conversion sanads in Salcete taluka were taken up for review at the Friday darbar of Saxtti's lone minister, Environment Minister Alexio Sequeira at the South Goa Collectorate on Friday.
After a review of the pending cases with Additional Collector-I Srinet Kothwale and deputy collectors Uday Prabhudesai and Nipanikar, the Minister has proposed expeditious disposal of the cases pending in the taluka.
“Conversion sanads are being issued by the Collector and the deputy collectors. They cannot issue the sanads until they get the report from the forest, survey and other departments. This has resulted in the pendency of the conversion sanad cases in Salcete,” Sequeira later told the media.
Saying that the total number of conversion sanad cases pending in Salcete may be pegged at around 100, the Minister said he has proposed to the officials to send the list to the concerned departments so that they get the reports expeditiously. “During the review, I asked the officials to submit the list of cases where the size of the plot is less than 1,000 square metres, pending with the departments such as the TCP, Forest etc,” he said.
At the Friday darbar, the Minister took cognizance of issues pertaining to sewerage disposal at Ramnagri in Sao Jose de Areal to Navelim, besides issues pertaining to Konkan Railway. Saying he has come across sewerage as a major issue raised by citizens in the taluka, Sequeira sought some time to resolve the issues.
“My attention was drawn to the issue of sewage disposal and the water disconnection notices issued to the 175 residents of a housing colony at Ramnagiri. I have asked the SDM, Margao to constitute a team and inspect whether the directions issued by the authorities have been implemented or not. If the suggestions have been implemented, the disconnection of the water supply will not arise. If not, the authorities will take necessary action,” he said.
On the Navelim sewage issue, Sequeira said that he has told the officials to repair the construction that has sunk and release the sewage connections.
Asked to comment on the public response to his Friday darbar, Sequeira said the interaction programme has evoked a good response so far, saying that whatever grievances that were pointed out to him have been addressed or are in the process of getting addressed.
