In another development, a bundle of voter cards were again found dumped near the old collectorate building here, prompting the Goa Forward Party to demand a thorough inquiry into the episode.
Margao PI C L Patil told The Goan that the Margao police have written to the Returning Officer of Fatorda constituency seeking clarifications on the EPIC cards found at Malbhat and elsewhere in the city. “The complaint has been filed by Nitin Pednekar after he found children playing with 11 EPIC cards at Malbhat. These cards were issued in the year 2011. The complainant has demanded to know how these cards have landed in public places,” PI Patil said, adding that preliminary inquiry suggests that the EPIC cards could belong to the voters who have shifted out of Fatorda.
Meanwhile, the Goa Forward Party has expressed its shock over the incident.
GFP spokesman Durgadas Kamat said the party leadership is at a loss to understand why and how around 300 EPIC cards were found in the gutters near the Margao railway station.
He demanded a thorough inquiry in the matter and action against officers handling the process of the electoral rolls. “We have been getting complaints from a certain section of a community from across the state that their names are deleted from the electoral rolls which is
done mechanically at the behest of BJP workers,” Durgadas said.

Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pernem, has sentenced Prashant Pednekar (26) from Sawantwadi, Maharashtra to undergo simple imprisonment of one year and to pay a fine of Rs 6,000 in a 2012 case of rash and negligent driving causing loss of life.
Chargesheet filed by Pernem Police stated that on December 25, 2012 at around 1.05 pm near Forest Garden at Junaswada, Mandrem, Pednekar drove a Tata Sumo in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against the oncoming Dio scooter causing grievous injuries to Efremov Sergey, a Russian national. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital.
The Sumo was proceeding from Arambol and the two-wheeler was coming from Mandrem.
The clinching evidence was the panchnama and the sketch which showed that the point of impact was in the lane of the two-wheeler and totally on the wrong side of the Sumo driven by the accused. Scratch marks were noticed on the road. “There was absolutely no reason for the accused to cross over to the other lane,” the judgment stated.
The court said that the evidence showed that the accused lost control of his vehicle as it was found in a different direction after
the accident.
