Stating that his influence will not be limited only to Bardez, former minister Michael Lobo said that he would campaign across Goa to ensure that Congress wins with a majority and sends the BJP packing home.

Lobo made the statement while speaking to reporters during campaigning of Congress candidate Tony Fernandes at Goa Velha on Tuesday.

Replying to a question by The Goan that it was believed that his influence would be limited only to Bardez, Lobo countered by saying, “I will campaign across Goa and make the people understand that there is a need for a change. There is no way we can continue with this government which has made the people paupers.”

“From power to water bills to petrol and gas prices, everything has gone up,” Lobo stated and appealed to people to vote for Congress which will ensure that the spiralling prices are brought under control.

Stating that BJP divides people on the basis of religion, Lobo said Goans do not support such politics.

“The current politics of BJP will not last long and Pramod Sawant should pack his bags and be ready to go wherever he belongs,” he added.

“The government now wants to finish tourism. Taximen have been asked to install meters worth Rs 12000 when the actual cost is only Rs 4,900,” Lobo informed.

“When I spoke to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, he told me to calm down and that he would give the meters free, which never happened. The taximen were fooled,” he added.

He further alleged there are agents outside all government offices who will get people’s work done if the price is right.

“If people want to do away with these agents, there is a need for a change in the form of the Congress which has given clean faces. If this doesn’t happen, then dark days lie ahead for Goans,” he opined.

Congress leaders Savio Monteiro, Palajia Raposo, Amilcar Alvares and others were present for the campaigning.
