Questioning the rationale behind proposing a restaurant in the multi-level parking project behind the Margao Municipal building, former Margao Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho has threatened to knock the doors of the High Court if the government does not drop the proposed restaurant in the project.
While issuing strong warning against any move to incorporate a restaurant in the multi-level parking lot, Coutinho stated that an official written complaint will be filed before the MMC and GSUDA, and if need be, SCM shall not hesitate to approach the High Court.
Questioning whether the multi-level parking facility is meant for a restaurant or the general public, Coutinho said common sense suggests that the need for a parking facility for the city arises as there is acute shortage of parking space for vehicles that enter the city. “Setting up a restaurant in the complex will only invite additional vehicles to the facility, while the general public making rounds around the Municipal garden, will continue to do so; and the purpose of setting up of multi-level parking facility will be defeated outright,” Coutinho added.
