Former Mormugao Planning Development Authority (MPDA) chairman and three-time councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar announced his panel of seven candidates for the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) elections from Vasco constituency.
Addressing a news conference on the occasion of Gudi Padva, Salkar said his panel consists of Shital Narvekar (Ward 11), Shami Salkar (Ward 13), Girish Borker (Ward 16), Siddharth Kaskar (Ward 17), Vishal Naik (Ward 18), Pooja Naik (Ward 19) and Aravind Shinde (Ward 20).
Appealing to people to vote for efficient candidates with a passion to work and change the face of the city, Salkar said developmental works have now become a necessity for Vasco.
"We chose a panel in seven different wards and in other wards, we will support independent candidates. Vasco is lagging on the development front and if we don't get a good panel of councillors, we will be fooled again for the next 5 years and Vasco will go from bad to worse."
"We have our report card displaying the works undertaken by us in the previous council and people must ask other councillors for their report card before they can re-elect them,' said Salkar.
Salkar said his panel was willing to support other candidates backed by Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho or independent candidates to form a majority in the council to take up development works in the port town.
