PANAJI
In a major political development, former Velim MLA Benjamin Silva along with over 100 supporters joined Goa TMC in Panaji on Friday.
In a press release, TMC stated that the induction was conducted in the presence of Goa TMC President Kiran Kandolkar, Mahila President Avita Bandodkar, Youth President Jayesh Shetgaonkar, Goa TMC leader Churchill Alemao and all the State in-charges.
Prominent among those who joined along with Benjamin Silva are former Congress district functionaries -- Chalton Furtado, Saroj Motte, Julio Monteiro and former Congress block members from Velim -- Andrea Faleiro, Agnelo Fernandes and Anthony Pereira, the release adds.
Addressing the media, Benjamin Silva said, “I have joined TMC after realizing that Congress is not serious about defeating the BJP in Goa. There is a leadership crisis in Congress which is disappointing not just the party leaders but also the people of Goa. I was waiting to get a ticket but they betrayed me just like they betrayed Goenkars and their supporters. The people of Goa deserve good governance and only the TMC can deliver that."
Benjamin Silva also expressed his gratitude towards his supporters for turning up in huge numbers and extending their support.
Lauding him for his grassroots connect, Goa TMC President Kiran Kandolkar said, "Benjamin Silva is an efficient leader who has worked hard for the people of Velim. We are glad to welcome him into the party and hope that together we will work to end BJP’s misrule."
