The Old Goa police on Tuesday arrested one person from Moloca-Merces on charges of making fake Aadhaar cards and other documents at his residence in Merces.

According to Old Goa Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, Inayath Khan of Corlim complained on Tuesday that he was induced by the accused, Amit Sarju Jaiswal, last month to pay Rs 15,000 in order to make an Aadhaar card in his name. But the Aadhaar card was not provided till date.

Based on the complaint, the Old Goa police registered an FIR under Section 420 IPC and raided the residence of the accused.

“During the raid, police found fake school certificates along with three different Aadhaar cards belonging to the accused with three different addresses. Police also found three other Aadhaar cards in the name of other persons. All documents prima facie appeared to be fake,” PI Dalvi said.

The police also seized the CPU of the computer used to prepare fake certificates.

The police are now investigating whether these Aadhaar cards were submitted to any government or private institutions, companies, etc to obtain other documents and thorough interrogation of the accused is going on, as it appears that fake Aadhaar cards have been provided to many people.

PI Dalvi has written to the executive officer of Goa Electronics Ltd seeking varied information on the Aadhaar cards, for further investigation.

The police have obtained five days police custody of the accused and further investigation is conducted by PSI Shivram Gauns under the supervision of PI Jivba Dalvi.
