Family raj does not exist, people’s backing is key: GF

MAPUSA
Pooh-poohing the notion of family raj, Working President of Goa Forward Party, Kiran Kandolkar said anyone who has the backing of the people and capability to fight an election can definitely step into electoral politics and contest.

“There is no such thing as family raj. It is the people who decide. If a person has the backing of the electorate and has the capability to contest an election, he or she can definitely contest. Finally, it’s the voter who will decide,” Kandolkar said.

The working president of GFP has made it clear on more than one occasion that he would contest from the Aldona constituency while his wife, Kavita would be the candidate for the Tivim seat.

Kavita was elected as the Zilla Panchayat member from Colvale with a thumping majority defeating the BJP candidate hands down.

Kandolkar said that he was not the first person along with his wife who will be contesting the elections in the State.

“This has been happening all along. It has been happening in BJP, Congress and even in MGP. Both Dhavalikar brothers contest elections. It’s happening all over India,” he said.

He further said that he was not pushing for his candidature but people from Aldona were forcing him to contest.

“People from Aldona want a local lad to be their representative. I am from the constituency so they want me to represent them in the assembly. People are fed up with the present BJP MLA who they say have done nothing much,” he said.

He said after Dayanand Narvekar no development has happened in Aldona.

“For last 10 years there has been no development in Aldona. People have suffered during the tenure of BJP MLA Glenn Ticlo. Now, they want to bring a change in the constituency,” he said.

‘While Goa suffered, BJP celebrated’

MAPUSA: Working President of Goa Forward Party, Kiran Kandolkar said even when people were struggling to come to terms after the worst floods in the State, the BJP was “celebrating” the arrival of it’s national president in the State.

“Floods have caused massive destruction. People in Goa are suffering and the BJP finds it fit to celebrate the arrival of their national president. Is this the BJP culture?” Kandolkar said. He said gushing water entered into more than 5000 houses and the water was yet to recede but the saffron party was in celebratory mood beating the drums to welcome its national president.

PANAJIRuling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president on Sunday backed the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and hinted at fighting the 2022 Assembly polls under him although he stopped short of making any assertive statement in that regard saying the party’s Parliamentary Board will eventually take that call.“Pramod Sawant has done a good job. There has been all-round development under Pramod Sawant’s leadership. We are moving ahead with his leadership,”…
