Fatorda Block Cong chief is happy with alliance

MARGAO
Fatorda Block Congress President Chidambar Chanekar has welcomed the proposed Congress-Goa Forward alliance blessed by party leader Rahul Gandhi.

Sources, however, say the proposed alliance has left many a local Congressmen and workers let down by the party decision to stitch an alliance with the Goa Forward Party.

Congress workers are demanding to know whether the party leadership had deliberately postponed the Fatorda Block Congress meeting to recommend names of prospective candidates aware that the party would concede the seat to the Goa Forward.

Sources say Congress workers, opposed to the alliance, are believed to have conveyed their resentment to the party leadership, and are believed to have reiterated their opposition to the alliance with the regional party.

The Fatorda Block Congress president had taken to social media to welcome the Cong-Goa Forward alliance, calling upon the people to remain united to send home the BJP.

...But will that help him get nod for his fast food gadda?

MARGAO: Will the Fatorda block Congress president Chidambar Chanekar’s application for trade license for a fast food joint at Borda find favour with the Goa Forward-led Margao Municipal Council in the changing political equations?

For the moment, the application for trade license is believed to have not found favour with the municipal sanitation section despite best efforts by the powers that be in the civic body.

Sources said the powers that be ruling the council had made a strong case for Chidambar’s application for trade license. Sources, however, informed that the sanitation section is believed to have raised a host of queries, including the question whether the fast food centre can be run in a residential unit and without cover of tin sheets. It has further raised the question whether the unit is connected to the underground sewerage line, sources informed.

Incidentally, the MMC had razed down the unit, which was used by Chidambar to run a fast food centre during the tenure of the previous council controlled by the Goa Forward Party.
