The office of the TCP Minister and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, however, told the media that work on the desilting of the storm water nullahs in and around Fatorda will kick-start from Wednesday.
A resident of Fatorda Dixon Vaz told The Goan that Fatorda may witness flooding this ensuing monsoon with most of the storm water nullahs still not desilted till date. “Last night’s showers have exposed the authorities and has only added to the fears that non-desilting of the nullahs will add to inundation of the roads,” he said.
Vaz pointed out that the storm water nullah alongside the main road from the stadium towards the PWD, which drains out water coming from Dongorwadda and other areas, is still choked with waste and silt. A message received from the TCP Minister’s office on Tuesday evening, however, pointed out that work on desilting of water nullahs will commence from Wednesday morning.
