The annual feast of Our Lady of Health, patron of Sancoale parish, was celebrated with traditional fervour and religious devotion at Sancoale on Sunday, drawing large participation from parishioners and their families.
The solemn Feast Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Henry Falcao, Director of St. Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa. He was joined by Rev. Fr. Kennet Teles, parish priest of Sancoale and Episcopal Vicar (South), and Rev. Fr. Christopher Fernandes, assistant parish priest, as co-celebrants. The liturgy was marked by the prayerful participation of the faithful, who gathered in large numbers to seek the blessings of Our Lady of Health.
The choir, coordinated by Rev. Fr. Peter Britto, assistant parish priest, rendered hymns that added to the spiritual atmosphere of the celebration. The Eucharistic celebration concluded with the traditional procession of the statue of Our Lady of Health around the church, accompanied by a brass band, lending a festive and devotional tone to the occasion.
Following the religious ceremonies, parishioners and visitors thronged the church premises, where various stalls had been set up. Traditional food items such as grams and kaddio bodios were available at the stalls, drawing steady crowds throughout the day. A games stall organised by the Parish Youth Association proved to be a major attraction, especially for children and young people.
The feast witnessed the participation of parishioners from Sancoale along with their relatives and well-wishers from neighbouring areas, turning the celebration into a vibrant community gathering.
The event not only reaffirmed the parish’s deep-rooted faith but also highlighted the spirit of unity and togetherness that the feast has come to represent over the years.
The smooth conduct of the feast was made possible through the collective efforts of the clergy, parish associations, volunteers and members of the parish community, who worked together to ensure a memorable and prayerful celebration.
