Fees for vehicle registration revised

PANAJI
The State government has notified the amended Goa Motor Vehicle Rules introducing several changes including updated address verification methods, revised fees for selecting registration numbers and new guidelines for retaining registration marks.

Under the new Rule 5A, additional documents are now accepted as proof of address, such as registration certificates for MSMEs, partnerships, LLPs, corporations, trusts, and societies.

“In the absence of the documents prescribed under rule 4 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, as evidence of address, any one or more of the following documents, in original or relevant extracts thereof duly self-attested, shall be produced as evidence of address, namely proprietorship, partnership, limited liability partnership, company/corporation, trust and society registered under the Registration Act, 1979,” it said.

The amendments also revised the fee structure for choosing specific registration numbers, with fees for select numbers now determined through public e-auction.

The highest “upset fees/price” for registration marks from 0001 to 0009 and with figures “0786” for non-transport four wheelers has been set at Rs 1 lakh each. The allotment will be through public e-auction on the government portal.

For retaining registration marks when purchasing new vehicles, the retention fee has been set at 25 per cent of the specific fee for the chosen category.

The government issued a draft notification in August inviting public feedback, following which these final amendments have been made.
