Sports Minister Manohar (Babu) Azgaonkar stated that the FIFA U-17 World Cup will be played in Goa to encourage the youth in the State.
He was speaking after laying the foundation
stone for the playground for Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce (GCASC) Sakhali with advanced amenities. The
ground will be constructed by investing Rs 9 crore in two phases.
Azgaonkar laid the foundation stone in the presence of Speaker and Sakhali MLA Dr Pramod Sawant, principal of the college Dr

Joydeep Bhattacharaya, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs V M Prabhudesai, Councillor Upendra Karpe and others.
"The FIFA U-17 World Cup is being played in Goa to encourage our youth. Goa is developing in sports sector with advanced amenities in each and every corner of the State," said the sports minister.
In his speech, Dr Sawant thanked the sports minister and also Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for having such good sports facility in Sakhali area, which was a long pending demand of the college and also the people.
"This ground will play an important role in dev eloping sports spirit among the sportsmen in the area," added Sawant.
Director Prabhudesai also spoken on the occasion.
It is learnt that the project will be undertaken in two phases, Rs 4.5 crore will be invested in the first phase with basic construction and the remaining Rs 4.5 crore will be utilised to implement various amenities.
