Finally, Ganeshpuri in Mapusa gets much-needed traffic island

The much-needed traffic island was inaugurated at the Ganeshpuri junction at the hands of Mapusa MLA, Joshua D’Souza on Goa Liberation Day.

“The traffic island will now be used as a landmark for people staying in the area. Credit goes to Ashirwad Constructions who have designed the island. It has been given a Goan touch and colour combination gives it a heritage look,” said D’Souza while speaking on the occasion.

Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo, former councillor of the area Sanjay Mishal, former chairpersons Ryan Braganza and Sandip Falari and other councillors were present on the occasion.

According to Mishal the traffic island at the junction was the need of the hour as a lot of tourists proceeding towards Siolim used the road.

He said credit for the traffic island goes to the Rotary Club of Mapusa which was instrumental to set up the island.

He also said the former councillors and the Mapusa MLA also helped in making the traffic island a reality.

President of Rotary Club of Mapusa, Robin D’Souza and Rotarians Ashish Kavlekar and Sanjay Gaude and Chief Officer of Mapusa Municipal Council Kabir Shirgaonkar were also present.

The traffic island is a project of the Rotary Club of Mapusa City and is sponsored by Ashirwad Constructions and supported by Cuts N Curves.
