VASCO
The PWD finally filled the chamber lid with tar on a road in Vasco, much to the relief of motorists and pedestrians exposed to the danger, especially when the road was covered with rainwater.
The repair work came barely two days after the issue was highlighted in The Goan.
Taking cognizance of The Goan report and mindful of public backlash and criticism, the PWD was quick to react and got the PWD road contractor to fill tar and patch up the stretch of the road.
Earlier, a broom had been placed on the dangerous chamber cover as a mark of caution to unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians. Though the nature and purpose of the chamber was unclear, a number of people had appreciated the gesture of placing the broom as a warning to motorists.
The road is one of the busiest roads in the port town, with several vehicles moving along the route and several offices and shops located around the road.
