Ledby Fire Officer Gill de Sousa, the firemen have been hopping from onevillage to another during the last three days to disinfect roads,jetties, market places et al.
Fridaysaw the firemen along with Margao municipal team of sanitaryinspectors Viraj Arabekar and Sanjay Sangelkar disinfecting thepavement of the Margao Municipal Council building, the roads allaround it, the road leading to the Old Fish Market.
Thefire services team later disinfected the roads around the municipalmarkets before they went about disinfecting the entire Old Stationroad, right from the Bank of India to the fire station, Aquem.
FireOfficer Gill informed that the Margao fire brigade has so fardisinfected the Cutbona fishing jetty, the market areas of Velim,Assolna and Chinchinim, Aquem-Baixo, Rawanfond, besides the areaaround the Maria Hall, Benaulim.
WithSalcete taluka comprising 30 village panchayats, the Margao Firebrigade has set a time frame to cover all the villages at theearliest. “We have earmarked a dedicated 12,000-litre capacitybowser for the task, while other tenders are kept standby for firefighting operations,” he said.
