SANGUEM
A 62-year-old fish vendor from Kamral-Curchorem was electrocuted on Wednesday, after coming into contact with live wires while he was cutting branches of a teak tree to take electricity connection to his newly built house at Vakarwada-Sanguem.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 11.30 am when Manohar Shankar Harijan had returned home from selling fish and had climbed the tree in front of his newly built house to take electricity connection.
While he was cutting the branches, Harijan accidentally came in contact with live wires from the electricity pole barely a few feet from the tree and died on the spot.
The body was later lowered down from the electricity wires by a fire brigade from the Fire and Emergency Services at Curchorem.
Sanguem PSI Harish Naik conducted the inquest panchanama under the supervision of PI Sachin Pavelkar and the body was later sent to Hospicio Margao for an autopsy.
Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar, Assistant Engineer Dinesh Gomes and Junior Engineer Anil Gaonkar later visited the site.
