CANACONA
Authorities on Thursday stopped hill cutting activity at Carai-Maxem in Loliem-Polem village.
According to sources, the hill cutting was reportedly going on at Carai-Maxem for the last two years, with heavy machinery and tipper trucks involved in the activity.
It is learnt that an NGO and some residents have been repeatedly complaining about the activity being allowed to continue without any intervention by authorities concerned.
Sources said, while the hill-cutting and transportation activity was in progress, a team from the Flying Squad with officers of Canacona TCP, a Talathi (Representative of Canacona Mamlatdar) along with Canacona Police team raided the site and ordered the machinery operators to stop the activity.
