the goan I networkrMARGAOr r Tucked away at the corner of the Cutbona fisheries complex at the mend net facility, one, however, finds a group of workers roped in from Andhra Pradesh, silently working on the repairs of damaged fishing nets. These workers are considered experts in net mending and are specially called in during the fishing ban to carry out repairs of the fishing nets. r In fact, a group of around 50 workers, who are specialized in net mending, are engaged at the jetty, silent in work as they repair the nets ahead of the new fishing season. r“We come to the Cutbona fishing jetty during the fishing ban. We were here for 2-3 months before returning back to our native states,” remarked a worker. r Elsewhere at the fishing jetty, one found small boats parked on the once-busy road for safety. A group of workers were also found carrying repairs of a motor on board a fishing vessel. Fishing nets were all found covered at the jetty with the fishing ban in force.
For them, it’s a stitch in time
With the two-month fishing ban in force, the hustle and bustle has gone missing at the Cutbona fishing jetty. The jetty road wears a deserted look, as dozens of fishing vessels lay anchored in the River Sal at the jetty.
