Police seize 500 kgs of beef and two vehicles

The Valpoi police have intercepted an illegal beef transportation network and arrested four individuals during an early morning operation at the Keri Check Post in Chorla Ghat.
According to SDPO Bicholim Jivba Dalvi, the police detained Amaanali Hussainsab Dessai (23) from Zuarinagar, Mormugao; Sayyed Aminsab Mokashi (29) from Mangoor Hill, Mormugao; Sohail Salim Naikwadi (28) from Ujwal Nagar, Belagavi, Karnataka; and Irfan Asif Bagwan (23) from Azad Nagar, Belagavi, Karnataka. The operation led to the seizure of two vehicles and approximately 500 kg of beef (cow meat).
On 16 March 2025, a team was deployed at the Keri Border Check Post (BCP) for patrolling duty. Around 2:30 am, the team stopped two vehicles—a blue Hyundai i20 (GA-03-Y-7867) and a silver Toyota Etios (GA-05-B-9993). Upon inspection, the police found 500 kg of beef valued at approximately Rs. 2.75 lakh.
Following a thorough investigation, both vehicles and the meat were seized under a panchanama, with the total value of the confiscated property estimated at Rs 18 lakh. A veterinary doctor was called in to examine the beef.
The Valpoi police have registered an FIR under Section 8 of the Goa Animal Preservation Act, 1995. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of SDPO Jivba Dalvi, PI Videsh P. Shirodkar, and overall supervision of Tikam Singh Verma, IPS.
