In a second successful crackdown on online gambling along the Salcete coastal belt, Colva police arrested four persons—three from Gujarat and one from Haryana—for operating an online betting racket from a row villa at Vanelim, Colva, late Saturday night.

Police also seized two laptops, six mobile phones and other related equipment worth Rs 3.10 lakh, said PI Vikram Naik.

The raid, the second in recent days, was conducted during patrolling by a team led by PSI Prashant Bhagat, along with PSI T Anil and other personnel, after receiving a tip-off. Following verification, police obtained a search warrant from SDPO Margao.

The accused were caught red-handed accepting illegal online bets and running computer-based gambling activities from the premises.

Further investigation is underway under the supervision of SP (South) Santosh Dessai and SDPO Shidhant Shirodkar.
